A recent Business in the Community 2019 Mental Health at Work report found that only
49% of employees felt comfortable talking to their line manager about their mental health, and 39% of employees surveyed said that work had affected their mental health over the past 12 months.
The cost of poor mental health to UK employers is up to £45billion, this is a 16% increase since 2017.
This is made up of absence costs of around £7bn, presenteeism costs ranging from about £27bn to £29bn and turnover costs of around £9bn.
The estimated return on investment (ROI) of workplace mental health interventions by employers, found that for every £1 invested, employers received £5 back.
